Stop at Shelter for Car Insurance

Even when the world slows down a bit, most of us live in areas where we need some kind of vehicle to get to work, school, the grocery store, run errands or haul things. Sometimes we use our vehicles for fun too, like taking road trips (whether in a car, an RV or on a motorcycle) or taking your boat to the lake. With any kind of vehicle, you will need insurance. Most states require a minimum amount of liability insurance to prevent a financial burden to someone else if you cause injury or damage to them or their property, but this protects your financial interests as well. Could you afford to pay someone else’s medical bills from an injury or pay to get their car fixed on your own? Even if you can, is that how you want to spend your hard-earned money? Probably not. And at Shelter, we want to help you get the best value for insurance needs.

Here’s How Shelter Helps
As a property-casualty insurance company, Shelter offers the basics—liability, Collision Coverage and comprehensive coverage. Under our plans, collision and comprehensive are optional coverages. Here’s what we include in all of our personal auto policies:

Here are optional coverages you can get for an additional charge:

  • Collision Coverage – Helps you get your vehicle fixed after an accident.
  • Comprehensive Coverage – Helps you get your vehicle fixed if it is stolen or damaged by hail, falling objects, flood, fire and more. Exclusions do apply, so ask your agent to explain those.
  • Medical Payments Coverage – Helps you pay for medical bills that result from a covered accident.
  • Personal Injury Protection – (not available in all states) – Helps you pay for additional expenses that may arise from being injured in a covered accident.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage – If someone who doesn’t have insurance (or doesn't have enough insurance) causes an accident, this can help you pay for your injuries and damage to your car.
  • Rental Reimbursement – If you need a rental car while yours is being fixed after a covered accident, this will help cover the cost.
  • Accidental Death Benefit – Provides a payment if you or your spouse dies as a result of a car accident or being hit by a car. Coverage can be extended to other drivers or family members for an additional amount.
  • Disability Income Coverage - Provides you with a weekly stipend for up to one year if your injuries cause you to be off work. (May not be available in some states.)
  • Gap Insurance - Helps pay the difference if you have a wreck and your collision coverage payment doesn't cover the amount you still owe on your car.
  • Loss of Use – Provides you with a single payment when your car is in the shop following a loss.

Of course, we also offer discounts for various things. Discounts do vary by state and policy, so that’s something you’ll want to ask your agent about.
