The right coverage at the right price
Shelter offers a wide range of generous farm insurance premium discounts. They may not be offered in all states, or may be offered under different terms.
New Home Discount
Homes under construction can receive a discount of up to 40 percent for one year. Homes completed and first occupied during the preceding calendar year are also eligible for a significant discount.
Protective Devices Credit
Get a discount for having the following devices on your property:
- An approved alarm system
- At least one fire or smoke alarm on each level of the dwelling
- Dead-bolt locks on all exterior doors and all accessible doors and windows
New Mobile Home Discount
Current model year mobile homes can receive a discount of up to 10 percent. Mobile homes from the preceding model year can receive a discount of up to 5 percent.
Heating System Discount
If a solid fuel heating device (wood, coal, etc.) isn't present, you can receive a discount. A conventional fireplace isn't considered a solid fuel heating device.
Claim-Free Discount
Maintain your insurance policy for at least six consecutive years without a claim and get a discount on your premium. The discount will apply on all subsequent renewals.
Companion Policy Discount
Premiums may be discounted if you own a qualifying Shelter Insurance® auto insurance policy in addition to your home policy.
